Your Sex Takes Me To Paradise

Bruno Mars is a talented guy and seems like he has a blast performing. And then there’s this song:

“Your Sex Takes Me To Paradise.”

The song is obviously referring to sex outside of marriage. And it’s a little blasphemous; he sings, “I’m born again every time you spend the night.”

While a few years old, it catches the sexual ethos our day. When I hear it (it’s been on auto-play in my head for three days), the word “paradise” stands out in stark contrast to the word “sex.”

Paradise is a tall, tall order. Jesus called heaven “paradise,” knowing we’d all instantly picture a place of ultimate beauty and joy and perfection. It’s a “catch-all” word that brings to mind the perfect place in everyone’s mind (sociopath mind not included).

Soooo … sex equals paradise? Just for grins let’s see if sex lives up to the hype. And none of that biblical sex stuff – just society’s rule, which means “no rules!”

Easy one first: Weinstein. And every other guy like him. More like hell for the women.

Except, the folks horrified by him also scream “no rules” at any Nazi-fascist-Taliban-morality-cop that dares set boundaries. You know – like Mike Pence.

Not paradise.

Shack up sex: Apparently NOT paradise since shacking up before marriage skyrockets the probability of divorce. No Disney movie “happily ever after.”

Not paradise.

One night stands: If “paradise,” it wouldn’t be just one night. And it would be disease free.

The year 2016 was the BEST (meaning highest number) for new sexually transmitted disease rates (We’re No. 1!). Thirty years ago, I thought we’d be star trekking around the galaxy on skateboards. Instead, we’re just using technology to increase promiscuity and disease.

Not paradise.

Gender Bending: All the rage today, so it must be paradise! And from news/social media/Bruce Springsteen, you’d think at least 75 percent of the population must be bending. Actually, it’s less than one-third of 1 percent.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) lists gender dysphoria as a mental disorder. And it has to be bad because transgendered people have an attempted suicide rate of up to 48 percent.

“That’s because of oppression!”

Really? How much more oppressed can you be than in chains? Yet at the height of slavery in this country, there was never any report of mass-suicide watches on plantations.

It’s actually quite easy to understand and sympathize with suicidal thoughts a person might have if he thinks he’s actually in the wrong body.

Not paradise.

Homosexuality: I’m a societal leper for even pointing this out since homosexuality is 100 percent celebrated in all media – and if you think gay marriage is wrong, Sen. Corey Booker is coming for you like a modern-day Joe McCarthy. Because he’s wiser than 5,000 years of religious history, Moses, God, and Jesus.

But a summary of the 2016 NHIS survey (a government study published by Journal of American Medicine) says homosexuals “were more likely to report impaired physical and mental health, heavy alcohol consumption, and heavy cigarette use.” You can read more here, but bottom line – across all categories for men and women, risks increase, some by almost 100 percent.

Not paradise.

LAST ONE and our BEST HOPE: PORN! No other human emotions involved, no disease spreading (for the observer anyway), and it can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own home! Paradise at last!

Except according to Psychology Today, you will experience INCREASED isolation, INCREASED chance of divorce, and get this: DECREASED sexual satisfaction! Porn makes the sexual paradise Not … As … “paradisey.”

Bottom line:

God created male and female and designed them, so they fit together like puzzle pieces and become a whole. Don’t believe in God? OK – then consider this: All of the above will be evolved out – because it’s all damaging to the species. Survival of the fittest and all that.

And there is proof that the biblical design is excellent:

Rolling Stone magazine article, “The Joy of No Sex”: In 1994, “the University of Chicago released the most authoritative survey to date on American sexual behavior and created the first tremor of the current Christian sexual liberation. According to the survey the most sexually satisfied people in the country are not S/M aficionados in New York or free love fanatics in San Francisco. The people getting the most joy, pleasure and ecstasy from sex are Christian women in monogamous marriages – they’re physically and emotionally more satisfied with their partners and are more likely to have an orgasm every time they have sex than are people of any other religion or of no religion at all.”

Boom. Mic drop.

Sex is awesome! And God made it so.

But even done God’s way, it’s still nowhere near paradise.

C.S. Lewis is better than I in so many ways, and he clarified the ocean of difference between this world and paradise this way:

“If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”

God made sex so fantastic, but what He has in store for all who worship Him will far outweigh anything we experience on this earth. Enjoy what He’s given! Often! But don’t confuse it with paradise – instead, let it remind you of His kindness and His promise that what is to come is infinitely better than anything you can ask for or imagine.

Amen amen.

The REAL Sexual Revolution

Caution: adult subject matter. But nothing that’s not on regular TV or the news every day.

There have been a lot of sexual revolutions in the US over the last 50 years.

1. The bikini was kind of a revolution. A hundred years ago a woman would’ve been jailed for wearing one in public (even the men wore full body bathing suits). But they were transformed into good clean fun that “California Girls” of the Beach Boys songs wore. The Beach Boys were a fresh, clean and safe alternative to the drug-addled music of Woodstock. Who couldn’t love that?

2. The revolution of “free love” in the 60’s. “If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.” And while you’re at it, “don’t bogart that joint my friend.”

3. The revolution of some sex as “not sex,” led by that revolutionary (and serial adulterer) Bill Clinton.

Clinton defined oral sex as, “not sex” with “that woman,” and reportedly told an Arkansas State Trooper it was all he’d do because it didn’t violate the 10 Commandments. And thousands (maybe millions) of males used the line as ammunition for conquests with girls “Come on girl…it’s not sex! So it’s ok!”.  Researchers even call it the “Clinton-Lewinsky Effect.” The vast majority of college students think this two-word descriptor with the word “sex” actually in it right there in black and white, is not sex. Weird.

That’s Bill Clinton’s legacy.

But today a sexual revolution of tsunamic proportions is washing over us.

In all of those previous examples, sexual choices were just that, choices. Even though a bunch of unwashed hippies at Woodstock were having sex with everyone in sight you could still:

  1. teach against it in the local junior high or state university,
  2. warn against the dangers of it in local doctor’s office,
  3. preach against it from the local pulpit, and
  4. lead your family away from it at home.

In fact, you’d be praised for that all of that by most of the population.

No more.

The current LGBT revolution is the first sexual revolution in America that is a 100%, take no prisoners, vanquish the opposition, mind control revolution.

David Gushee, a very liberal evangelical (oxymoron), wrote accurately for Religious News Service (click here) last week that two truths are becoming firmly ensconced in our country:

  1. There is no middle ground and no tolerance in this revolution. You are “for us” or “against us.” Meaning you either 100% embrace LGBT as wonderful and glorious and even part of Jesus and Christianity or you are part of the heretical evangelical fire breathing haters. And many will hate you. And already do.
  2. Dissent is not acceptable. The State and the culture will not tolerate any alternative views. Thought control is the goal. And Gushee seems to be a willing future “informant.” He says in the article mentioned above that he has been urging religious conservatives to change their Biblical view of sexuality, “voluntarily.” One can only assume by using the word, “voluntarily” he is suggesting that soon there will be a totalitarian enforcement that he appears to embrace.

Understand, this revolution includes all things sexual – wefhomosexual, bisexual, pansexual and whatever else you can come up with (eventually we’ll owe Utah an apology for forcing them to outlaw polygamy as a condition of statehood).

This also includes gender identity. Currently, only one judge (link) stands in the way of President Obama’s edict that all schools must allow boys who consider themselves girls into the girl’s locker room. No medical or psychological diagnoses or proof of any kind is required. The boy just has to show up to school and say, “I feel like a girl!” and abracadabra! He’s in the girl’s locker room!

Teenage boys deciding which locker room they should use.

The inmates are running the asylum. The crazy train has left the station.

If you don’t want to board the crazy train, sorry – you can’t stay off. Every effort will be made to get you “on board.”

Orwell-truthWith same-sex marriage now the law of the land, all public schools k-12 and public universities and all state and local governments and all government offices are required to embrace the new sexual morality. Corporations have embraced it. Small businesses have already been fined or forced out of business by the State or by threat of violence from homosexual activists (here and here). And there are those who are ready to hit any Christian church or nonprofit that will not renounce it’s Biblical morality and embrace the State sponsored sexual morality (link).

I wrote about all of that a year ago in an article titled Waving the Rainbow Flag and Declaring Christ?

All Of This Means You Have To Choose

You have to choose. And you only have two choices:

a. Choose to the follow the Jesus of the Bible. The One who claimed all sex outside of marriage between a man and woman is sin. Who claimed that God made them male and female (not in between).

But to choose Him as He is and not as some like Gushee imagine or dream Him to be.
This could have severe consequences in the future. Maybe the loss of reputation. Maybe the loss of a job. Becoming part of a ridiculed and much-maligned and often hated subset of the population.

Maybe the loss of tax exempt status for churches (this is guaranteed if Clinton becomes President and appoints the next Supreme Court Justice). Fines for pastors who preach what the Bible says about homosexuality (criticism of homosexuality is already a “hate crime” in Canada).

b. Choose to reject the Jesus who actually does exist. Reject the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Embrace the politically correct Jesus that has been manufactured in the world’s mind or no Jesus at all. Doesn’t matter. The end result is the same-a rejection of the real Jesus.

Follow or reject Jesus. There is no middle ground. So choose.getrfedw

Historically this is not a new choice. It’s been made millions of times throughout history and is made daily right now in places like China and sharia ruled countries around the world. And it’s being made with joy.

Many first century Christians (called “atheists” because they only worshiped one God)
were burned at the stake or slaughtered in the Colosseum – all because they refused to embrace the gods of this world and only embraced the real Jesus, God incarnate. And they saw it as a privilege to suffer for their Savior.

The choice is, Jesus or the world? Be marginalized or even persecuted for Jesus, or bow to the state?

But do not lose heart and do not fear! My word to you: Choose Jesus. Choose all of Him as He has revealed Himself in His Word-all 66 books of it. He will make it worth your while.  Always.

Stand strong. I didn’t say stand obnoxious or stand, “in your face.”  God doesn’t call us to cinderellathat. Paul, when imprisoned for choosing Jesus, still preached Jesus with (in the words of Cinderella’s mother) courage and kindness to everyone he met, even his captors. Over and over until he died. He could do that because he was the victor. Confident that in Christ, he had already won.

No one could defeat him.

Not even death.

And Jesus made it worth His while. He lived maybe 70 years on this earth but has been in heaven, the place Jesus called “paradise” for almost 20 centuries.

Choose Jesus and celebration and joy are yours.  No one can defeat you. Not even death. And in 20 centuries you will look back with great celebration and say, “Jesus made it worth my while.”

Choose this day who you will serve. Everybody else, or God.

Amen and amen.

Christians on Same Sex Marriage?!?!

So I’m writing this because I can’t seem to get a simple, good take on same sex marriage. And this post is directed at those who call themselves Christians (I don’t expect non-Christians to agree with much of what I have to say-that would be a conversation about salvation and Christ’s great sacriifce). Because apparently a lot of Christians don’t get the Bible at all. Crazy right? (being facetious…it’s my favorite thing to be). One of those that is completely disturbing to me is Dr. Chris Cone-President of Tyndale Theo. Seminary (graduates need not apply for a job with me) who wrote an article “Why I Concurrently Both Oppose and Support Gay Marriage.” Oh – and while the title you just read says he supports it, he says he doesn’t condone it. That makes my head hurt.

Also…disclaimer: I don’t have time to wordsmith this so that everyone who wants to defend their sin isn’t offended. So before you call me a hater or a small minded bigot – understand this: I’ve spent a lot of time in my life ministering to people in the worst of situations. I have loved people who you would absolutely deem unlovable.  I’ve spent time in prisons, time in far away parts of the globe, just to encourage men and women, share Christ’s love with them, help them and minister to them.  I’m just saying what God’s Word says, so if the best you can do is call names, save your breath.

So here we go. Why Christians should oppose same-sex marriage:

1. Homosexuality is a sin. Like adultery. Like stealing. Like lying. “But Jesus didn’t say it was!” Really? Where do you get that? You do understand that the whole Bible is God speaking and not just the red letter part right? I mean, this is 1st grader Bible info-what you learn in Sunday School. Romans 1:26-27 is a complete repudiation of homosexuality. Need more? Lev. 20:13, Leviticus 18:22 (but that OT-it’s gone man! Oh-so you reject verse 21 about not offering your kids in the fire as a sacrifice too?). How about 1 Corinthians 6:9,1 Timothy 1:10. God wrote all of that. He’s clear.

He’s also clear that there is forgiveness for homosexuality just like there is for every other sin. He’s clear that the hope for every man, woman and child, is salvation through Jesus Christ. His desire is that none should perish, but that everyone come to repentance – 2 Peter 3:9.

Not a cow. Even if you call it one.

2. It’s an affront to God’s design. The definition has been a man + woman for 10,000 plus years. Stated first in Genesis 2:24-God designed male and female differently so they “fit” together physically. Like pieces of a puzzle. I realize we’re so much smarter than anyone in history, what with great intellectual entertainment like MTV and the Kardashians, but just because you call two men together a marriage doesn’t make it so. I can call a horse a cow, but that steak is still gonna have a funny taste. And you’re still fooling around with God’s plan. Don’t be a fool.

3. You’re telling a whole segment of the population to go to hell. When Christians condone (and by saying you are OK as a citizen with legalizing same sex marriage-you’re condoning, or as Dr. Cone said “for it”) the legislation of sin, they are saying to the sinner, “go ahead, and go to hell. I’m OK with it.” It’s not compassionate, it’s not loving, it’s not “live and let live”, it’s more “live and let die”. And yes, I realize that only Jesus saves and not works, but it’s being neither “salt” nor “light”. In fact, you’re saying “spread the darkness around more…and that’s either pure ignorance or just twisted and hateful. Everyone matters to God, so they should matter to us – which means we shouldn’t be saying “continue on…peace out”; we should be saying “Danger Will Robinson! Danger!”.

4. We ALWAYS “legislate morality”.  The question is “who’s” morality? You shall not murder. Morality. You shall not take another’s property by force. Morality. You shall not lie (on contracts). Morality. You shall not commit prostitution. Morality. You shall not let kids watch porn. Morality. You shall not let men molest young boys. Morality. Law is about “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts”. Guess what? Morality is about “shoulds” and “shouldnts” too. When you say a man can marry a man – you are legislating (or in the case before the Supreme Court, dictating morality! It is flat out ignorance of the law to says we don’t legislate morality (see-I told you I wasn’t word smithing to be sensitive).

5. Same-sex marriage will damage your country. I know our home country is in heaven, but we should give a rip about the people around us. Proverbs 14:34 says “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to ANY people.” Do we care for our fellow citizens? Or do we pray like Ahmadinejad for the destruction of all things so Jesus will come again? Granted, he wants the appearance of the 12 Imam, not Jesus, but it’s the same idea. If it really gets bad,  He’ll show up, so let’s deep six it now! How about instead we weep for our countrymen, pray that God brings revival, and work to keep it from descending into a moral morass that will hurt men, women and children.

6. Christians should be about democracy. 31 States have voted in a democratic process to define marriage as one man, one woman, that’s all. NEVER has same sex marriage been approved by an election. The only reason it might be legal now, will be if five Supreme Court Justices, in a country of 330+ million, overturn the will of the people. That’s called judicial tyranny. Not on constitutional grounds. So you’re against “legislating” morality, but you’re just fine and dandy with “dictating” morality?

7. It will blast a hole in religious liberty. The lawsuits have already begun. If same sex marriage becomes a “right”, then churches and pastors will be sued and forced underground. You can be fired from your job for publicly saying you don’t agree with same sex marriage.Don’t believe me? Read the news – it’s no slippery slope somewhere in the future. It’s already happening. A few (from article by Dana Loesch):

When same sex marriage is a “right”, you will be pressured to be silent, in some cases by force of law (pastors in Canada threatened for preaching homosexuality is a sin).  And your kids will be taught that its a right, and that your “God” is wrong and a bigot. The lawsuits and name calling have already started, get ready for more.

7. If same sex marriage is a “right” because anyone in “love” should not be denied the right to marry, ANY kind of marriage is acceptable.   You have no moral standing to deny marriage to: two men, two women, three men and 5 women, one man and 42 women, a woman and her dad, a man and his mom, and sister and brother, two brothers. If marriage is defined as marrying who you want, then who are we to discriminate against anyone?

Hope that helps. God’s clear on it. I’m not sure why some are not.

Someone said we are always one generation away from barbarism, and that is perfectly clear in the case of same sex marriage. If it is legalized as a right, our country will descend into moral chaos (ok-already there a bit), and Christians should care about that and be salt and light in their nationwide community.
