Christians: Privileged or Persecuted?

According to a seminar at George Washington University, I’ve been getting “Christian Privilege” all my life! That’s on top of my patriarchal, white, gluten/peanut tolerating privilege!

But is that really true? Or is it one of those #FirstWorldProblems things?

Globally, the idea of Christian privilege is pure sophistry. Christians are the recipients of up to 80 percent of religious persecution around the planet, making it the most persecuted religion in the world. Worldwide, Christianity is the opposite of privileged unless you consider it a privilege that the day your faith is discovered in Somalia is the day you die.

“But we’re just talking about the evil empire – the United States, David.”

OK – let’s consider that. Christians in the United States don’t blow people up; they don’t riot in the streets; they do billions of dollars of good work. But they are still persecuted. Examples:

  • Facebook refused an ad from a Catholic University because it was too violent – it pictured a statue of Jesus on the cross.
  • Obama tried to force Hobby Lobby and The Little Sisters of the Poor to fund abortifacients against their Christian belief. Horrible people those “Little Sisters” – caring for the elderly poor and destitute as if they were family.
  • In 2012, Chick-fil-A owner Truett Cathy said he supports biblical marriage: one man/one woman. The mainstream media went ballistic, and his restaurants were vandalized and received threats of violence from homosexual groups.
  • A case is currently before the Supreme Court regarding a baker. The baker will sell homosexuals cupcakes, cakes and brownies, but, believing that same-sex marriage is a sin, won’t bake cakes for their marriage ceremonies. So Colorado is trying to force him to violate his religious beliefs.

None of that sounds “privileged” to me. One could argue that Islam is much more privileged that Christianity these days.

After 9/11, when Muslim terrorists killed 3,000 Americans, U.S. leaders went to GREAT PAINS to distance Islam from those guys who claimed to kill in the name of Islam.
After 9/11:

  • We were told we must watch out for “Islamophobia.” “Phobia” refers to an irrational fear – like the fear that one of the 100 million Muslims sympathetic to terrorism might fly a plane into a building in the name of their religion. Crazy.
  • George W. Bush, confronted with this act of terror, declared, “Islam means peace.” Wrong. Who advised this guy? It’s not a secret – Islam literally means, “submission.” I guess “peace” sounded better.
  • Both Bush and Obama refused to say the term, “radical Islam.” It’s not radical Christianity (they handle snakes) or radical Krishnas (used to accost you with love and bald heads in airports) or radical Girl Scout cookie pushers that are the problem.
  • Obama invited dozens of real Islamic terror suspects to the White House.
  • Obama criticized Christianity for the Crusades, which happened 1,000 years ago, but never criticized Islam for the terror of today.
  • Trump banned travel from seven of 50 Muslim majority countries (they were terror incubators); the mainstream media was apoplectic calling it a “Muslim Travel Ban.” Weakest ban in history since it left out 43 countries. “All Muslims are BANNED. Except for 86 percent of them. But it’s BIG BEAUTIFUL BAN.”

Bottom line?

  • Islamic terrorists kill 3,000 Americans, and everyone runs around making sure no one offends Islam.
  • Faithful Christians refuse to pay for abortion drugs or believe in biblical marriage, and they are the Taliban and must be destroyed!

So in one sense in 2018, anyone that goes around claiming Christians have special “privilege” is cloistered from reality.

But, I must admit, here in the U.S., every single person is a recipient of a specific type of Christian privilege. Here’s the truth. The United States is:

  • the greatest country in the world,
  • the safest country in the world,
  • the most prosperous country in the world,
  • the most secure country in the world, and
  • the freest country in all of history.

Why? Because of the Christian values and principles that informed its founding and governance. Christian values led to the forming of a country unlike any in history – dedicated to protecting the individual’s right to freedom and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

“But what about all the atrocities the U.S. has committed?” America has her flaws, but those flaws exist in spite of Christianity, when the U.S. has not fully embraced Christian values. And we work hard to right the wrongs: Slavery was the norm around the world, and we were the only nation in human history to fight a bloody civil war to end it.

In every election cycle, Barbra Streisand and her buddies declare they will leave the country if the conservative or Christian or Republican wins. And we wait, and we wait, but THEY NEVER LEAVE. THEY PROMISED! WHY WON’T THEY LEAVE?

Because there’s nowhere better to go.

Instead of “Christian privilege” seminars, there ought to be seminars everywhere on how you should thank your lucky stars if you’re an atheist, your lucky charms if you’re a witch, or whoever it is you worship, that you live in a country that was founded by Christians and/or those who respected Christianity and the Bible. Because you are more blessed than the 95-plus percent of the world’s population that lives elsewhere. You have freedom and liberty unlike any other people in history.

Why Do They Hate Us?

With every terrorist attack, I hear people say ridiculous things in regards to Islamic terrorism. Christians should be informed and knowledgeable about what’s going on in the world, and not ignorant of the evil. Jesus said, “be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” Matthew 10:16.

In the last month the “Religion of Peace” has been responsible for over (I keep losing count with each additional attack) 142 terrorist attacks, 1216 deaths, and 1803 injuries. And during that same time, no Christians or Buddhists or Hare Krishnas or Wiccans or even the Bewitched-ians claimed credit for even one terrorist attack.

Followers of this show: “Bewitched-ians.”

And some folks are scratching their heads wondering, “Why do that they hate?” and “Why do they kill?”

The first time I saw this question in print (sometime after 9/11), I assumed it would be followed by the obvious answer. But today I truly believe that some religious leftists would walk to a chopping block in a sharia run country, with their “LBGT’s Against Islamophobia” and “Hollywood Heart ISIS” shirts, asking each other that question.

The State Department suggested they hate and kill because they just need a jobs program (read here).  Both Bush and Obama said Islam is a “religion of peace.” On November 15, 2015 Hillary Clinton tweeted, “Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.” You have to be ignorant of a whole lot of history and current Muslim testimony by actual terrorists to make an absolute claim like that.

The President has repeatedly said Guantanamo Bay is a contributing factor. He believes this so much that he’s releasing horrible murderers bent on destruction from Guantanamo so that peaceful Muslims around the world won’t be tempted to join ISIS and behead Christians. Of course Guantanamo Bay didn’t exist before 9/11 and some guys still felt the need to fly planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Simple. They are following their religion. It really is as simple as that.

Now before you go apoplectic on me, it’s true that not all Muslims are terrorists. I know some really nice Muslims. And not all Muslims hold the views of terrorists.

But 99% of terrorist attacks are done today by, not Christians, not Buddhists, not tree huggers or fortune tellers in traveling carnivals, but by…Muslims.

So whether or not they are “correctly” following Islam according to the teaching of leftists or anyone else is completely irrelevant.

Polls show that minimum of 74 percent of all Middle East Muslims are anti-semitic (that alone is horrific), 10 percent to 86 percent (86% in Egypt-a sometime ally of the US) support the death penalty for apostasy or blasphemy , and up to 34 percent (differs by country-highest in Palestinian territory) of Muslims  have a positive view of Osama bin Laden (read here).

In Islam, faith is based on the Quran and the Hadith, and the teaching of religious leaders expounding on those writings. Terrorists and terrorist sympathizers include both:

a. Muslims who claim to follow the literal teaching of the Quran. The Islamic State (ISIS) justifies (great article on this by former Muslim here) the following on the Quran: beheadings (47:4), sex slavery (4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30), and the  subjugation of Christians (9:29).

b. Muslims who are following the teaching of Islamic religious leaders. The Grand Ayatollah Ahmad al-Baghdadi, the leading Shia cleric of Iraq, said this in a televised interview: “If they (Christians and Jews) still refuse (to submit or convert)—then we fight them, and we abduct their women and destroy their churches—this is Islam!… Come on, learn what Islam is, are you even a Muslim?!”

We can argue all day long about whether or not we think “true” Islam teaches terror (people much smarter than I (click here)-would argue it does – including quite a few Muslim clerics). Doesn’t matter. For over 100 million Muslims worldwide (that’s a lot of people),  Islam that is true includes actively participating in terror, hating Jews and wanting them erased from the earth, or sympathizing with the merchants of terror.

So why do they hate us?

Because they are following their version of Islam.

Ok! I get it! What does that mean for me? Other than fear and anxiety?? Because that’s all I’m feeling right now!

Remember these two things:

1. Remember that the government’s role, Biblically, is to defend the citizens by “taking God’s wrath” to the bad guys:  The Bible says, “The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.” Romans 13:4

So don’t let anyone tell you that you lack faith or are somehow not, “Christian” because you want the government to defeat and kill terrorists before they kill more innocents. Read this story: Kayla Mueller Defended Christian Faith to ISIS Executioner ‘Jihadi John’. I pray that our government is led by men who will be God’s servants as, “agents of wrath” against these brutal sadists, torturers, and murderers so they do not continue their terror. And anyone who says that is wrong is woefully or willfully ignorant of what God has already said on the subject.

2. Remember that Jesus can do anything.  So don’t fear! Instead, pray that those who have been deceived will be saved.

Paul was something like ISIS. He was going from town to town dragging Christians from their homes to be imprisoned, and breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord (Acts 9:1).

“Breathing threats and murder.” What kind of wretched animal does that? And he will certainly be that way until he finds himself in hell, just like every single terrorist. Right? Right?

Wrong. Paul was saved. By Jesus. And all the energy he put into hatred and persecution, he put into ministry and led a movement that is still impacting the world 20 centuries later.

Jesus always gets the last word. He certainly did in Paul’s life.

Jesus will truly get the last word in the life of every single terrorist…one way or another. All across the world there are reports of Muslims seeing Jesus in dreams and many more coming to Christ in unheard of places like Saudi Arabia. Just Google, “Muslims converting to Christianity,” and, “Jesus appearing to Muslims” and you’ll come with a lot of reading material. Watch this video, “Woman Gives Jesus One Week to Prove Himself.”

Jesus can get through to anyone. Not so sure? Read Acts 7:52-60, 8:1. Then skip over to Acts 9 and keep on reading.

So don’t fear! Don’t be anxious. Be confident in the ONE who always, always, always gets…the last word.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22:13

Amen and amen.
